Design. Paris Design Week is once again transforming the city into a playground for creativity, and this year, French artist-designer Sophia Taillet invites visitors to lose themselves in Spinning Around. After last year’s acclaimed installation at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, this new work takes over the courtyard of a 17th-century mansion, turning it into a stage where architecture, light, and reflection are in constant motion [Free, until September 21, 62 Rue des Archives – Map].

Spinning Around is as contemplative as it is playful. Each mirror slowly turns on itself, catching glimpses of the surrounding façades and sky, and returning them in shifting fragments. The effect is both hypnotic and immersive, inviting visitors to pause and see the historic courtyard from fresh angles.
Taillet designed the installation around the idea of circularity, linking the precise gesture of the designer with those of the artisan and even the dancer. Taillet’s fascination with matter, gesture, and movement continues to place her at the crossroads of disciplines.
Indeed, during Paris Design Week, the project gained an extra layer of life thanks to dancer-choreographer François Malbranque and sound composer Matthieu Gasnier, who staged a performance activating the work in real time.
Spinning Around is part of an ongoing design exploration that “reimagines the iconic Spinning Mirror and its rotating motion through a selection of pieces in blown glass and metal.” Explains Sophia Taillet. “Vases, tabletop mirrors, and playful objects bring this gesture to life with lightness and poetry, offering a signature piece in a more playful and collectible scale.”
Other highlights of Paris Design Week 2025 include a maze of design, fashion, and crafts at the Hôtel de la Marine, as well as a multisensory installation that combines design, fragrance, and sound to create a haven for mental well-being.
