Design. Finnish design house Iittala made a warmly anticipated debut at Copenhagen’s 3 Days of Design, unveiling its Autumn/Winter 2025 collection—a seasonally attuned ensemble of objects rooted in timeless design, fine craftsmanship, and an ongoing love affair with Nordic nature.

For A/W25, we looked to the rhythm of the season – how nature slows, deepens, and transforms,” says Janni Vepsäläinen, Iittala’s Creative Director. “This collection explores how sensory design and refined craftsmanship create objects that bring comfort and depth to everyday rituals. It continues our dialogue with the Nordic landscape, from the materials we choose to the stories we tell through form and colour.”

This introspective seasonal theme plays out across a range of beautifully considered pieces, including a new line of scented candles—an Iittala first. Drawing inspiration from the elemental forces that shape glass—Fire, Sand, and Water—the candles come in three distinct scents that echo lakeside breezes and forest undergrowth, with earthy notes of oakmoss, suede, and cedarwood.

At the centre of the collection is the Solare glassware series, introduced in a calming new palette that echoes the softened light of Nordic autumns. These subtle, earthy tones reflect the soft light of the Nordic fall, elevating the mood of everyday gatherings. Each glass is mouth-blown at the Iittala Factory in Finland, shaped by artisans using time-honoured techniques to enhance how the pieces capture and reflect light.

A true highlight is the Finnish Sand Edition of the iconic Ultima Thule glassware. Traditionally made with Belgian sand, this limited version uses sand sourced from Karvia, Finland, resulting in a distinctive green hue that occurs naturally—no dyes, no additives. Originally designed by Tapio Wirkkala and inspired by melting ice, Ultima Thule is famed for its textured surface, achieved through intricate mould carving. The updated edition celebrates local materials while honouring a rich legacy of Finnish design.
