AI everywhere and all at once
As expected, Artificial Intelligence was ubiquitous, from a parenting app translating babies’ cries to a toothbrush talking through your bones to improve your brushing techniques and ChatGPT-powered cars. We have selected five out-of-the-box innovations from entirely different sectors, showing the infinite potential of AI technology: read more!
Out-of-the-box TVs
High-performative screens are never enough in Las Vegas. This year, LG presented the world’s first wireless transparent OLED TV. Tired of big black rectangles in the middle of the room? The see-through 4K, 77-inch screen becomes practically invisible when turned off. When in transparent mode, it can showcase artwork, videos or photos with the Always-On-Display (AOD) feature. For viewing in picture-perfect OLED, click a button to instantly raise the contrast screen to switch to an OLED’s enhanced picture quality.
Foldable, elegant, and sleek are the key concepts of C-Seed‘s N1 MicroLED TV. It reshapes interior design and transforms the media experience, combining cutting-edge technology with avant-garde style in a giant folding screen of striking sculptural quality. It is a minimalist sculpture, a kinetic work of art: Initially invisible, the N1 suddenly grows huge, rising up, unfolding its 4K MicroLED screen and settling on an aluminium base of timeless beauty.
Empowering the human body
Approximately 200 million individuals globally suffer from lifelong, incurable hand tremors – from Parkinson’s disease to essential tremors. GyroGear presents the GyroGlove features a high-performance gyroscope, which instantaneously stabilises hand tremors, allowing to be able to perform again everyday movements for cooking and eating, needlework, using a smartphone, playing music and even calligraphy. With the GyroGlove, patients can now regain daily functions and, by extension, their independence and quality of life.
Many were innovations that empowered people’s abilities. Japanese company Innophys presented the MuscleSuit Exo-Power, a light exoskeleton allowing you to lift and carry heavy weights more easily. Developed initially to create faster and stronger soldiers, the new exoskeletons have been developed to support workers and people with limited mobility or during rehabilitation.
Delivery-tech
Korean automotive company KIA unveils a family of cutting-edge electric vans doubling as trucks, ride-hailing and last-mile delivery vehicles, all set to be built on a new modular platform. Indeed, each vehicle comes with a fixed driver cabine and interchangeable ‘life modules’ that can be swapped to allow it to serve multiple roles – from a taxi to a delivery van or a personal recreational vehicle.
Jedsy is an autonomous drone for long-distance deliveries. At the moment, it thrives in Switzerland to ship biological samples between hospitals. There is no commercial home delivery yet, but there is great potential thanks to the autonomy of 100 km and all the necessary certifications to operate in Europe.
Energy-focused innovation
The more high-tech our homes become, the more we need to be in control of electricity: how to save it, store it or optimise it? Japanese company InQs has presented the next-generation solar panel: a transparent solution capable of turning sunlight energy into power. Made of solar glass, a.k.a. SQPV glass, the new see-through panels can be installed as windows and architectural glass facades to rethink traditional bulky black solar tech. On top of that, the innovation is built on silicon quartz, a solution that does not include any rare earth materials, and it is easier and safer to recycle.
EcoFlow introduced the Delta Pro Ultra power battery and a whole home backup you can bring along with you. The new solution can provide power to your home or be unplugged and wheeled away for energy on the go.
