Design. As part of the Stockholm Creative Edition city-wide festival, ArkDes design centre showcases Ung Svensk Form 2026 a vibrant exhibition and platform that reveals how Sweden’s emerging designers are tackling the big questions of our time: society, climate, the body, identity, and production. The show is the outcome of the long-running award of the same name. We’ve rounded up our favourite works.

Harry Parr-Young‘s Reading Reeds reimagines an overlooked material through both experimental and time-honoured methods, transforming humble reeds into striking structural and sculptural forms. “The aim of the project is to celebrate and explore an underused material within the design industry, as well as to raise a more ecological awareness around the use of naturally occurring materials that are abundant in our country.”

Stockholm-based ceramicist and visual artist Ludvig Hyrefelt has a thing for systems—whether mathematical, material, or delightfully irrational. His Fully Functional series uses modular ceramic units to build larger, unexpected structures that blur the boundaries between craft, art, and design. “Although there is a lot of planning and structure involved, the final work is assembled intuitively. I do not know the outcome until the last piece is in place, and that uncertainty drives the work.”

Alma Duran explored the optical and sculptural possibilities of glass in CYBER RAY, where hand-blown forms meet neon in a mesmerising play of refraction, reflection, and distortion. “CYBER RAY becomes a synthesis of structure and collapse – a pulsating window into the light of the future.”

Living far from healthcare hubs makes pregnancy feel like a logistical puzzle. Johanna Nilsson‘s MONI offers a smart solution: a real-time monitoring patch that bridges the gap between expectant mothers and distant midwives or hospitals during those crucial final weeks. It’s designed to bring peace of mind when the nearest maternity ward is miles away.

Sebastian Acaymo Fältström has found an ingenious use for Swedish waste wool in Macro Fibres—a biodegradable system for removing oil and heavy metals from marinas. “Through studies of the wool’s structure, I have developed a recycled wool product that absorbs 30 times its weight in oil, can be reused, and whose design, inspired by nudibranchs, warns marine species during cleanup.”

Love Persson channels grief into form with Heaven and Earth, a furniture series born from the profound experience of losing a parent. Working with opposing forces—stability and anxiety, warmth and cold, soft and hard—Persson creates pieces where raw emotion meets functional design, proving that the personal can strengthen the professional.

Diana Lazare‘s Race Against Age captures our futile yet universal battle with time itself. Through movement, textiles, and air, her installation embodies the paradox of fighting the inevitable. “It’s a physical metaphor for the struggle between body, time and the will to remain young. Pedalling forward to turn back time is a paradoxical act.”
