Design – For the fourth time, the fair dedicated to authorial and independent design took over the Italian city of Naples, focusing on responsible creativity, quality over quantity, craftsmanship, and a human-based and local-driven approach. Let’s be fair is the theme of Edit Napoli 2022. “Fairness, equality, appropriateness, and beauty are the main values of the event.” Curators Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petruccelli told Archipanic.

Known for his wall paintings and murals made on large surfaces of both public and private buildings, Italian artist Agostino Iacurci teamed up with the San Patrignano community helping young people suffering from drug addictions to reintegrate into society. Together they created wallpapers with floral motifs dating back to the frescoes of the villas of the perfectly preserved historic Roman city of Pompeii near Naples.
London and Naples-based craftswomen and designer Allegra Hicks has created a large silk tapestry at the Art of Silk Museum, located within the SS. Filippo and Giacomo church. The design featured sacred references to the cult of patron saints of silk workers. The ‘mystical’ piece explores an inner world, a play of textures and colours that narrate a manifestation of the self, of the unconscious.
Lecce-based studio No Smoking The Future presents a furniture collection made from a fireproof, sustainable, and biodegradable proprietary material – a fireproof compound made from recycled paper, minerals, and pulverized marble joined by natural materials adhesive.
Dante Negro showcases Dolmen, an wrought-iron furniture collection developed and crafted under the creative direction of Margherita Rui. Sculptural furnishings highlight the primitive charm and potential of the material.
Sublimio presents the Aprile swing chair with a floating seat shaped after petals. Inspired by the lightness of childhood and springtime, the suspended seat is a surprising element of interior design that brings playfulness to any environment. Design by Matteo Modica.
Rome-based Millim Studio crafted a collection of coffee tables, side tables, and vases made from discarded sheet metal from off-cuts of steel processing.
Designer and entrepreneur Marco Ripa showcased a surprising series of geometric and minimal metal objects. Bright-hued paint is used sporadically to create playful reflections and pops of color on these otherwise white pieces.
Have a seat and let’s talk about design. Twils provided design therapy sessions. Giovanna Castiglioni, the curator of the Achille Castiglioni Foundation, invited guests to confess their feelings on Polet reclining armchairs by design maestro Achille Castiglioni, now re-edited by the Italian furniture company.
