Walls with Stories
Walls don’t have ears—yet at Cersaie, they seemed ready to speak. This year, many exhibitors introduced surfaces that moved beyond neutral backdrops, instead inviting us to dream, reflect, and even suggest narratives. Eclectic design studio 41zero42, based in Fiorano Modenese (the numbers nod to the town’s postal code), presented Stories, a playful collection of porcelain tiles that come together like a puzzle.
Each 10×10 cm tile—matte or glossy—is decorated with a drawing of a character, object, or scene: dancing figures, sirens, shells, doughnuts, sunbeds. Arranged together, they transform walls into narrative landscapes, sparking imagination with every glance.
Meanwhile, The Nesting Room, a collaboration between Dutch lifestyle brand Moooi and Italian ceramic innovator ABK, brought whimsical animal muses into domestic spaces. A hypnotic owl, a rampant ostrich, and a mysterious dove become magical companions blending imagination with craftsmanship. Beyond enchantment, the collection carries a subtle sustainability message, continuing Moooi’s conversation about endangered and extinct species, and turning walls into a canvas for both storytelling and awareness.
The Call of Touch
At Cersaie 2025, design wasn’t just about what you see—it was also about what you feel. Many collections were designed to be touched, with textures and finishes that invite the hand to explore. Tactility took centre stage, offering a truly multisensory experience.
The Moon collection by Ceramiche Refin reimagines the stone effect with bold mineral inclusions set on a smooth base, creating a distinctive graphic style. Its lustrous finish enhances depth and richness, while light reflections reveal shimmering iridescent tones. What makes the collection truly stand out is its tactile quality—surfaces feel alive, shifting in sparkle and intensity depending on angle and lighting, for a strikingly dynamic effect.
The Arteseta collection by Marca Corona transforms the elegance of Moroccan zellige into large white-body slabs. Its signature malted effect is enriched by a glossy micro-texture, giving the surface a soft, smooth, and inviting tactile quality. Every touch reveals its subtle granularity, while the practical design ensures easy maintenance and cleaning—making beauty and tactility effortlessly coexist.
Novabell Ceramiche’s Canvé collection, designed by Danilo Ramazzotti, celebrates Italian ceramic craftsmanship with a modern twist. The porcelain stoneware surfaces feature a three-dimensional texture, where raised inclusions, stone flakes, and micro-facets create a dynamic sense of movement. The tactile richness of the collection engages the hand as much as the eye, transforming each tile into a surface that is as expressive to touch as it is striking to see.
Heritage Renewed
Many contemporary collections reinterpret the past with a fresh, modern perspective. Ceramiche Keope’s CottoMilano draws from the warm reds of Renaissance Milan to create surfaces suited to contemporary architecture. Born from a collaboration with the historic Fornace Curti and designer Domenico Orefice, the series blends industrial design with artisanal tradition. Its soft, matte surfaces carry an emotional resonance that makes history feel present and alive.
The Glow collection by Ceramica Sant’Agostino was inspired by the Venetian terrazzo style. Its marble-effect porcelain stoneware brings tradition into the present through Carve3D technology, which adds a sense of movement via digital printing and layered glazes. Available in three square formats and a wide palette of shades, Glow bridges history and modern design with effortless style.
