DESIGN BOX – Born from the encounter between Vittorio Alpi and German designer Konstantin Grcic, the new Arcobaleno and Raggiosole wood veneers results from a lengthy process of research and development regarding colour, one of the cultural mainstays at ALPI.

Grcic experimented for many months with the R&D department, focusing on the possibility of gradually blending one colour into another and alternating them in a programmed sequence. From a distance, the chromatic effect transitions smoothly. From up close, it gives the illusion of an almost natural veining.
Arcobaleno – Italian for rainbow – features a gradient of multiple tonalities, joyous, pop, and lively, like the iris of an eye. Inspired by the sunburst finish of electric guitars from the 1960s, the soberer Raggiosole – Sunray – features softer, earthy shades running from red to black.
Konstantin Grcic is a German industrial designer who develops furniture, products, and lighting for leading design companies. He is active in several fields ranging from industrial design projects, design editions, exhibition design, and collaborations in architecture and fashion.
ALPI is a leading manufacturer of decorative surfaces made of sustainable reconstituted wood. The company was the first to industrialize this process. Alpilignum veneer is made of real wood, produced by taking it apart and putting back together a tree trunk. ALPI stands out for its direct control over the entire production process, starting with responsible forest management, from the trunk to the finished veneer.
