Design. Step beyond the ordinary and into CHROMA, an immersive installation of colour, texture, and tactile wonder presented by the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York City. Curated by Swiss designer and Sula Creative Director Nadja Stäubli, the exhibition explores a vibrant world where art and design converge. Flowing fabrics, soft surfaces, and meticulously crafted objects invite exploration, each embodying a narrative of Swiss precision and artisanal mastery.

“CHROMA is a playground for the senses,” Nadja Stäubli told Archipanic. As they walk through the exhibition, visitors experience a transition from cooler to warmer colour tones. Vibrant palettes contrast with surprising material combinations to spark curiosity. “Unlike a conventional gallery, every element in CHROMA is meant to be handled.”

Anchoring the space are fantastical sculptures by Stäubli, created in partnership with Brooklyn’s TWOSEVEN studio. These playful forms—part art object, part furniture—encourage interaction: you can climb, lean, or simply admire their fluid contours.

The exhibition is complemented by a bespoke scent by Swiss company DSM-Firmenich, alongside a custom sound installation by artist Sebastiao Loopes.

In a time of digital overload, CHROMA reminds us of design’s power to connect through the physical. By emphasising touch, movement, and vivid colours, this installation offers a joyful antidote to the screen-bound experience, celebrating our innate desire to explore, experiment, and delight in materiality.
