Trame by Kenneth Cobonpue

Federica Capitani designed Trame outdoor collection for Kenneth Cobonpue’s design brand exploring and expanding upon the art of traditional weaving in the Philippines.

Five interlocking asymmetrical loops create a structural frame around which multicoloured threads circle and lock. The result is a light but solid seating made in polyethylene, nylon and steel.

Federica Capitani said “A woven handcraft lives on this swirling frame work. Trame collection explores the art of weaving with surfaces composed of threads intersecting like fingers entwined”.

The collection features single and double seatings, stools and coordinated tables and comes in vibrant and exotic colours: from aqua and avocado green to faery blue and orange as well a harlequin tropical combinations and grey.

After work experience with Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders and in Japan, Italian designer Federica Capitani established her own design studio in London. Her work ranges from small utilitarian objects to architectural projects focusing on furniture and lighting design.

Kenneth Cobonpue is a multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer from Cebu, Philippines. After design studies in New York he worked in Italy and Germany and then moved back to the Philippines where he founded his own brand. Kenneth Cobonpue is known around the world for its unique designs that integrates locally sourced materials with innovative handmade production processes. Indeed TIME magazine once called him “rattans first virtuoso” and in 2014 Maison & Objet awarded him designer of the year.
