Summer 2019 – It all started with Verner Panton’s iconic Inflatable Stool and Zanotta’s BLOW chair… And it never stopped. Designers keep injecting creativity (and air) in their projects. We picked 5 new inflatable and tongue in cheek designs to enjoy the summer. Relax, bump and float away…

Tired of seeing influencers pulling faces on inflatable swans? New York-based artist and designer Lukas Bentel and internet-based MSCHF studio have created Decapitated floats to poke fun of Instagram addicts. What better way to kill the trend than to literally decapitate it? The head and body of the decapitated swan pool float come together in the same package. The head can rest nicely on the body or float idly nearby.

If you live in the ‘burbs with an in-ground pool it might not be for you. But if you are living with a small outdoor space and you are hot to the max, Mylle’s new inflatable pools claim to be the most beautiful ones in the world.

The 2019 collection comes with original patterns such as ‘terrazzo’ and ‘watercolour’ and can comfortably fit 4 adults. “Why does cooling off have to involve cartoon seascapes? It’s time grab your pals, a 6 pack, and your dog and have a pool party.” Kids will love it too!

Each pool is packaged in a matching vinyl envelope that can be used for storage. The pools are constructed from heavyweight vinyl and measure 65-inches in diameter and 15-inches in height. There’s a large valve to inflate and deflate and a drain at the bottom for easy deflating.

French design company Mojow has launched a new collection of inflatable seats for the indoor and outdoor. Each furniture comes flatpack and features a transparent or opaque inflatable PVC cushion and an easy-to-assemble metal structure.

The collection comprises sofas, armchairs and stools, all available in many colours. Thanks to a system of double valves, the inflatable parts can be personalized by filling them with confetti, glitter, plumes or more.

BLOW by Emanuele Magini for Italian radical design brand Gufram could be the perfect pop lounge chaise for your situationist shrink. And maybe it might even work to help you overcome the fear of water. In its features we can clearly see the reference to the air mattress of the seventies, as well as its ironic charge.

Comfortable and playful, BLOW takes idleness to extremes. With sunglasses and a cocktail in your hand, no wave can hurt you, nor can the sun burn you. Actually, you don’t need to inflate it as it is a veritable upholstered setted made of polyurethane.
