GARDEN OPSVIK 01

Moment AB re-launch Peter Opsvik‘s Garden chair, the icon seating designed by the Maestro of the ergonomic Norwegian revolution. The new Garden is a seating alcove that seems to spring out of the floor as a plant-alike chair cuddled by comfortable spheric fruits that balance the body into a proper and ergonomic position.

In the new version for Moment AB the branches of the tree continue down and become supporting roots. Garden is an eye-catching art object that views of how we should fold our limbs when sitting. This is why, “from the beginning of the 1980’s, it was essential to demolish the stereotypical ideal of the proper sitting posture” says Peter Opsvik.

To get this message across, Opsvik’s design-mission was to gain acceptance for a freer use of the body. Indeed, Garden can be described more as a message than a piece of furniture. The new version is primarily intended for public spaces since the person who is waiting can see over the crowd and can also easily be seen.
