Design. At the Cersaie fair in Bologna, Dutch lifestyle brand Moooi made its ceramic debut with The Nesting Room, a collection developed with Italian ceramic innovator ABK. Known for blending imagination and craft, Moooi here turns animal muses into tactile design. As Marcel Wanders explains, the collection is about “transforming natural inspiration into a tactile, lasting experience.”

The Nesting Room showcase at Cersaie highlights wellness, meditation, and the sense of protection that a nest embodies. Moooi’s signature lighting and furniture framed the ceramics, creating a cocoon-like atmosphere of calm and beauty.

Animal-inspired design lies at the heart of the collection. Moooi’s fascination with extinct and symbolic species [Read more] translates into three motifs: Hypnotic Owl, Reiki Rhea ostrich, and Cloistered Dove. Each channels elemental forces—wisdom, healing, and serenity—woven into patterns that bring storytelling to walls and floors. Wanders describes it best: “The Nesting Room is not just about surfaces; it is about creating sanctuaries of stillness where people can reconnect with themselves and the world around them.”

The tiles are available in four versatile formats: 120×280, 120×120, 60×120, and 60×60. Neutral bases provide calm foundations, while decorative animal motifs punctuate interiors with moments of wonder. The oversized 120×280 slabs showcase the creatures in striking detail, transforming surfaces into immersive canvases.

“Everything in this new collection is applicable for hotels, large projects, and residential areas. Everybody can enjoy these beautiful new designs. With ABK, we found a partner who, like us, dares to push the boundaries of what design can be,” adds Wanders.
