Design, Interior Design – Sur/Reality is the main theme of Maison & Objet 2025. The Parisian Fair, the first international event on Planet Design, is always an inspiring occasion to scope out new trends for the upcoming months. This year, trend consulting agency Peclers Paris commissioned Elizabeth Leriche and Uchronia studio to explore Neo-Surrealism as a driving creative force through inspirational exhibitions at the Parisian fair.

The Surrealist visionary movement emerged a century ago, yet the influence of Magritte and Dali remains strong in today’s landscape. “We aimed to adopt a far more contemporary approach to Surrealism,” explains Charlotte Cazals and Brune Ouakrat of Peclers Paris. This Neo-Surrealism unreservedly evokes the strange and the surreal, encouraging us to explore the nature of digital creativity and the limitless random deviations AI enables.

Upside-down chairs, giant eyes, quirky creatures, and psychedelic patterns intertwine to challenge a new sense of reality. The showcase’s essence fosters surprise, typically accomplished by unsettling shifts in scale, intriguing proportions, and delightful absurdities.

In the age of Artificial Intelligence, how can we reconsider automatic writing and dreams through the prism of new technologies? This “dictation of thought free from rational control,” cherished by the Surrealists, resonates with the exploratory functions of software like Midjourney, where myriad images converge, revealing unforeseen creative avenues. “This evolution of automatic writing creates new reference points established digitally, enabling us to reassess our real-world constructs.”

Uchronia studio’s founder Julien Sebban brings Neo-Surrealism to the What’s New? In Hospitality exhibition, envisioning a surreal hotel that offers a novel perspective on the hospitality industry. At the heart of the display is an opulent suite furnished with velvet cushions on a circular bed, complemented by a chandelier adorned with glass-blown flowers.

We live in a complex and chaotic world. “These daydreams are alternative realities that, through their originality, quirkiness and inventiveness, offer other realities that are escapist and often jubilant.” Peclers Paris told Archipanic.
