Design. Inspired by ancient Greek convivial gatherings, Anthony Guerrée and Les Marbreries de la Seine present Symposion, a quietly evocative meditation on the encounter between form, gesture, and memory. Crafted from seven fragments of Arabescato Fantastico marble, the collection unfolds as a conversational daybed, a sculptural chair, and a floor lamp. Together, they explore tension and silence held within the stone, where a luminous white ground is animated by bold, flowing veins shifting from deep grey to rich green.

Symposion gently transcends marble’s apparent permanence, revealing a rare balance of weight and lightness, strength and tenderness. “Each piece stands on its own,” says the Paris-based designer. “Together, they tell a single story: that of a slow, essential, almost sacred way of living, and of conceiving furniture as a living vestige.”
The collection was born from a meeting of minds and savoir-faire. Paris mineral-material specialist Les Marbreries de la Seine invited Guerrée to pay tribute to raw stone, opening a dialogue enriched by skilled artisans working across upholstery, fabrics, and refined details in rattan and washi paper.
The marble is cut, split, softened, and polished by master craftsmen, while select surfaces are intentionally left rough, embracing the expressive incompleteness of a ‘non finito’ and allowing time, touch, and imperfection to speak.
The daybed takes its cue from the reclining benches of Greek symposiums, conceived for conversation, shared wine, and unhurried presence. Its upholstered elements are crafted by Le Lit National, whose exceptional expertise shapes tufted mattresses and cushions, dressed in a mohair velvet by Dedar.
The chair reads as a monolithic throne: a compact seat carved from the mass, its backrest rising like a solitary fragment of architecture. The floor lamp pairs a marble base with a rattan structure shaped by Michèle Thomé, then delicately clad in washi paper applied by hand by Fabien Ifirès.
With Symposion, Guerrée invites us to slow down, sit and converse, rediscovering furniture as an intimate companion to ritual and memory, quietly anchoring everyday life with grace and shared moments.
