Constantly searching for the abstract, Russian artist Vassily Kandinsky composed his canvases by arranging symbols and colours with no apparent order. French Maison Élitis presents a wall-covering and home accessories collection blending natural materials with contemporary and ancient cultures. The Art Paper series translates textured poetries and paper collages into geometrical and abstract canvas paying tribute to XX-century art masters. The Marqueteries series nods to natural wooden three-dimensional patterns.
The classic patterns of ties inspire Maison Lelièvre’s Big Tie collection by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte [Opening picture]. L’Envolée Fantastique collection was born from deep research into the French Maison’s archives seeking visionary hidden treasures with a contemporary vibe. Ottoman plumes, dragon-like birds or chimeras, voluptuous clouds, and enveloping foliage designs. The result is a world of fire-proof textiles woven into contemporary patterns blending the past with the present.

Perennials and Sutherland teamed up with Texan hotelier Liz Lambert to create the Perennials by Far West collection. The rustic vibe of a Texas crafts market blends with a contemporary mood in a series of acrylic textiles and carpets, building up a stripey kaleidoscope of earthy colours, and textures developed in collaboration with Mexican artisans. “Perennials by Far West is a journey through my lifelong love of stripes,” explains Liz Lambert. “We drew inspiration from the hand-woven, striped textiles I’ve been collecting throughout my career and my travels.”
Sahco presents the first drapery and upholstery collection curated by the new artistic director Bengt Thornefors. The Swedish designer celebrates Maison’s 200 years of heritage with designs traversing the past, present, and future. In particular, Erie’s textural and expressive drapery recalls swirling water. Made from 100 percent recycled polyester, the soft chalky sheer is available in a wide range of colours, from soft grey to rust, clay, forest green, and a strong quince yellow.
