Architecture. The USA Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka “is a beacon for the country, celebrating the best of American ideas on the world stage,” explains Trey Trahan, founder of New Orleans and New York studio Trahan Architects. “Our design is centred around public space and visitor experience – architecture that is at once minimalist and monumental, inspired by its Japanese context.”

Intentionally designed to draw visitors into the pavilion, the eye-catching exterior features two wedge-shaped structures with wooden facades, set against a glowing, suspended cube. Large LED screens on the sides of the triangular structures create a canyon-like entryway, showcasing American images and landmarks, creating a breathtaking visual presentation.
The suspended cube emits a gentle glow in the evening, while the LED screens beckon visitors to watch, listen, taste, and explore. “In designing the pavilion, we sought to create a bold, memorable building emblematic of the United States’ history of architectural innovation.” Continues Trey Trahan.
A wooden walkway serves as a bridge welcoming visitors to the Pavilion grounds. Upon passing beneath the translucent cube, they enter a beautiful open-air courtyard featuring a performance stage. The path then leads through a garden filled with plants, grasses, and flowers indigenous to the United States.
Inside, engaging exhibits and storytelling transport visitors on journeys through urban and natural locations across the United States and into outer space, where they can explore the moon and other galaxies. Entertainment firm BRC Imagination Arts designed the interior program.
