The new collection reflects and retrospects hystory of the studio founded by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel and includes 7 different designs: Industry, Labyrinth, Alt Deutch, L’Afrique and Withered Flowers -the latter both in black and white and colour.
Job Smeets says: “Where do you put the paintings? I hear some one grumble. My reply: the plain wall behind a painting is an idea from modernism. In the seventeen and eighteen centuries, it was quite common to present art on a very ornamenting silk wallpaper. But let me put it in another way: with this wallpaper, you do not need a painting”.
Founded in 2000 by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel both graduates of the Design Academy Eindhoven now based in Antwerp and Amsterdam. They redefine the applied arts for the contemporary age. Their collaboration has created highly expressive, mainly one-off or limited edition works, from the outset. www.studiojob.be
