At the press conference, organizers didn’t forget to mentions bombastic figures that would belittle any other international fair. For the record: over 300.000 operators from 160 countries, over 2.300 exhibitors (including 650 emerging talents at SaloneSatellite), and a citadel of 207.000 square-metres composed of 24 fully-booked pavilions.
Beside that, all the major Italian and international brands will colonise 14 pavilions with their latest collections. Those who crave for flamboyant designs, bespoke materials and fancy brands mutuated from fashion and show-biz will wish to feel at home at the new xLux section (pav. 3).

Two pavilions (13-15) are dedicated to emerging talents from all over the world. SaloneSatellite will baptise and host 650 up-and-coming designers that were carefully selected and will present their creations according to the theme “New Materials, New Design”.
But it doesn’t end here. Salone del Mobile.Milano tunes with culture in and outside the fair. The exhibition-event Before Design: Classic (pav. 15) will offer a reflection on the classic soul of contemporary living showcasing also a short film by Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone.
Milan furniture fair will mix business and culture in collaboration with the XXI Triennale of architecture and design. The exhibition Rooms. Novel Living Concepts curated by Beppe Finessi will showcase 11 installations by prominent italian designers. Here, Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre, Carlo Ratti and others will underscore the particular remit of interior architecture providing a vision of home living projected towards the future.
At The Mall Porta Nuova – Brera Design District, Migliore+Servetto Architects curate for MADE Expo biennial fair the exhibition space&interiors that focuses on surfaces, flooring, doors and interior finishings.
Busy days ahead, and time to book a room. But this time, there will be an alternative to eye-watering hotels’ prices. Organisers announced a partnership with AirBnb. Hurry up, you might find some good deal on line.

Salone del Mobile.Milano will also launch a special Award that will be bestowed in May. At the press conference it was also launched the new website www.salonemilano.it with a logo and coordinated image designed by Lorenzo Marini Group that was inpisred by ’60s design [watch the video]. The claim of the 55th edition dictates “O ci sei. O ci devi Essere” that means “You are part of it. Or you have to (be part of it)”.
