Design – Federlegno Arredo Eventi, in agreement with Fiera Milano, has announced the new dates of Salone del Mobile 2022. The event will “enable exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the entire international furnishing and design community to make the very most of an event that promises to be packed with new things, in total safety,” said Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano.
This year, the most influential fair on the design agenda will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary. “The event will focus on the theme of sustainability, acting as a showcase for the progress made in this regard by creatives, designers and companies.” The postponement “will also give the participating companies time to plan their presence at the fair as thoroughly as possible given that, as we know, the progression from concept to final installation takes months of preparation.”
The fair was canceled in 2020 and postponed in 2021, also due to the pandemic. In 2019, 386,236 people from 181 nationalities visited the fair, which hosted 2,418 exhibitors, 34% from foreign countries. “The desire for a Salone is increasingly strong, which is why we are working towards an event that will allow everyone to enjoy a unique, concrete and exciting experience. We are all really longing for a Salone.” Added Maria Porro.
Along with the fair, platforms and organizers of Fuorisalone, the city-wide festival taking over Milan with almost 2.000 events during the world’s largest design week are set to be rescheduled to June as well.
Internationally, several trade fairs have been canceled or postponed. Maison & Objet will take place from 24 to 28 February, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will go on show from 6 to 9 September while IMM Cologne has been scrapped. The new dates of Milan Design Week will coincide with Design Shanghai, June 9-12.
