Norther exhibition by Aalto University School of Arts referred to a sudden and stabbing Finnish wind that brought fresh design and fashion ideas from young northern designers of the future.
“Design is thinking” notes Professor Jouko Järvisalo and co-curator of the student work with Lecturer Martin Relander. “An idea is refined into a usable, finalised product, when thinking meets the exploration of material, handicraft, and machine.
Everything that happens around you, may inspire the designer within you. Observe your work process and you will discover a red thread. This may be the beginning of something worth further developing. When you find this thread, explore it and play with it. It may become your strength. Your thoughts may one day lead to something quite unique and make you stand out”.
