Design – Cutting-edge artists and designers from around the world came together for the 13th edition of NOMAD CIRCLE, the travelling showcase for collectible design and contemporary art. Staged in the former Hotel Eden, a magnificent historic building currently undergoing renovation in the heart of St. Moritz, the nomadic event transformed the venue’s distinctive rooms and corridors into a labyrinth of exquisitely crafted contemporary art and design presentations.

NOMAD CIRCLE’s unique format sets itself apart from other fairs. “We aim to offer galleries and visitors alike a bespoke experience and a bold alternative to the traditional white-cube-fair format,” the project’s founders, Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, told Archipanic.

Draga & Aurel x Rossana Orlandi.

Milan-based Rossana Orlandi Gallery set up an eclectic home featuring furniture, including a statement cabinet by Diederick Scnheemann and an American pool table by Hillsideout. Draga & Aurel teamed up with Giuliano dell’Uva and Somma1867 to create a monumental bed sculpture with iridescent, bold neon hues nodding to Sol Lewitt’s aesthetics.

Nilufar’s installation at NOMAD St. Moritz 2024 is a fusion of vintage and contemporary design. Mid-century furniture pieces dialogue with designs by emerging designers such as Audrey Large and Christian Pellizzari.

Hamed Ouattara’s cabinet x Foreign Agent.

A bold, spiky cabinet by Hamed Ouattara stood out in Foreign Agent’s debut exhibition at NOMAD. The Lausanne-based gallery specialises in contemporary BIPOC – Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour – artists and explores alternative narratives, marginalised identities, and new critical perspectives on history.

Brussels-based gallery Spazio Nobile presented a group exhibition of twenty artists and designers inspired by Swiss lakes and mountains. We were impressed by the pleated paper furniture by Taiwanese artist Pao Hui Kao.

Galleria Luisa delle Piane presented a selection of contemporary and historic furnishings, including three pieces by Gaetano Pesce that exemplify the artist’s research on materials.

Bubenberg is a Paris-based yet often ‘hors-les-murs’ wandering gallery. For its NOMAD debut, it presented a new body of works by Italian artist Malù dalla Piccola, which was developed during her winter residency at the St. Moritz Art Academy.
