“We wanted to give LONG NECK the look of a Beetle shell. The shimmery appearance of the textiles we used emphasises this feeling.” Say Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche to Archipanic.
The 2m tall armchairs have a really high backrest made of a mix of hard and soft material entirely wrapped by Bolon new Duet textiles. The way the different pieces are attached together creates a three dimensional protective alcove.
“The inspiration sprung from a three months travel in Japan last year. On that occasion we began to study the craft and aesthetic of samurai armour and armour in general” said the designers.
The Innovators at Heart exhibition at Stockholm Design Week showcases a series of experiments in collaborations with brands like Cappellini, Kettal, BD Barcelona, Moroso, Thonet and Gärsnäs. Doshi Levien, Monica Förster and Färg & Blanche reinterpreted their designs using Bolon new materials.
LONG NECK is the first piece of a bigger collection called ARMOUR mon AMOUR that will debut at Färg & Blanche solo exhibition during Milan Design Week. A former church-turned-theatre in 5VIE ART+DESIGN District will showcase new experimental works questioning the relation between hard and soft, in terms of material, production methods, shape and ideas.
