Design. Mexico City–based Sten Studio debuts at Design Miami with Lithic Bloom: A Sculptural Garden exhibition that transforms delicate petals and leaves into enduring works of art. As nature’s presence feels increasingly fragile in a changing world, the studio captured its fleeting beauty in stone. “We aimed to immortalise flowers’ beauty by playing with the colours and textures of various stones,” Jose Schnaider, Creative Director of Sten Studio, told Archipanic.

Softness became structure. Sten Studio reimagined organic forms with mineral precision, where the vibrancy of living plants meets sculptural permanence. These stone artefacts celebrate the diversity of the plant kingdom. They shift floral essence into durable geometry, echoing the emotional power of a blooming bouquet. “Flowers are alive; they infuse spaces with joy and positive energy. They are a direct link to nature, representing good feelings, well-wishes, and even celebration.”

At the centre of Lithic Bloom stands Florea, a modular statement piece capturing the blooming gesture of a flower in stone. Surrounding it, Peonara — a stool inspired by lush peonies — and Folia, auxiliary tables shaped like leaves, extend this mineral garden into functional objects with botanical grace.

The installation grows upward with seven lithic sentinels, each representing a unique ecosystem. Three stand as floor lamps, casting ambient light like bioluminescent stems, while another diffuses scent to elevate the sensory experience. Each piece merges conceptual depth with practical purpose, evoking habitats that need care and attention.

The journey continues with Hydraea, a sculptural chair carved from blue calcite. Its fluid form symbolises water, the essential source of all growth. Sten Studio also introduces Lithara, a functional aroma diffuser that captures the ephemeral perfume of a flower.

Lithic Bloom becomes more than a collection. It is an invitation to pause and reflect. A reminder of nature’s fragility and its enduring splendour. A celebration of botanical richness translated into stone. With this installation, Sten Studio imagines a future where the most delicate forms of life remain forever present — sculpted, protected and cherished.
