“The designs started to take shape following a request by FLOS to create a new collection.” Says to Archipanic Formafantasma co-founder Andrea Trimarchi at the exhibition opening. “What you can see here is not the final product but its form when we were developing it. Indeed, the exhibits are three dimensional sketches assembled by using stationery and standard industrial materials. Just what you could seen when you visit our studio”.
Visitors are welcomed by Ellipse, a project developed for the TextielMuseum in Tilburg and composed of a large disk covered in pale blue and golden fabric. Ellipse is part of a upcoming collaboration that will be shown in full in 2018.
The Magnifiers, a series of suspended brass rings projecting circles of light, are displayed in a row in order to create overlapping geometries on the floor. Foundation features also two of the designs for FLOS that debut at Euroluce, the lighting design section of Milan Design Week fair in Rho. The Wire Ring is composed of a custom made belt-like electric cable and a ring that contains a Led strip.
“The cable, which is often considered something to hide, is the focus allowing for the transmission of energy to the ring via electrical connectors. Disassembled, the lamp is reduced to a minimum. When mounted, it then reveals sculptural traits” say Andrea Trimarchi e Simone Farresin.
Blush lamp makes use of a LED strip and a piece of dichroic glass to cast brightly-tinted reflections on walls. The design aims to answer to the lack of colour saturation during winter months as well as recreating the indoor memory of a long summer day. On show also other ‘tests’ shifting experimentation to an architectural scale.
