Design. During this year’s 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, Muuto invites visitors to take a breath—literally and metaphorically. On a serene rooftop above the city bustle, the Scandinavian design brand unveiled an immersive installation that reconnected design with nature’s calming pace. At the centre of this tranquil escape is the Dream View Bench, a poetic new piece by Danish designer Lise Vester.

Shaped to support the human form in a gentle recline, the Dream View Bench subtly tilts the body—and the mind—towards the sky. Its sculptural silhouette cradles the sitter, encouraging daydreams and upward gazes.
Sit up and “wonder what makes the universe exist,” says Lise Vester, quoting astronomer Steve Hawking.

“It’s almost as if the seat is ready to lift you up to the stars. Reconnect and merge with the sky.” When placed outdoors, its brushed stainless steel surface reflects the sky’s shifting palette: clouds, birds, moonlight and the occasional sunbeam.

Rooted in sensory design, Vester’s process was deeply personal. She began by shaping her own posture in the sand by the sea, later sculpting the form in Styrofoam and refining it through trial and error with friends and family. The final design gently disrupts the everyday, offering a reset for both body and mind.

Available in two widths—60cm for solo reflection and 100cm for shared pauses—the bench blends playful form with ergonomic function. Whether offering a quiet moment of solitude or a side-by-side sky-gazing session, the Dream View Bench turns the simple act of sitting into a meditative experience.
