Beyond electric cars mobility
Sony and Honda unveiled a new car brand, Afeela, that will hit the roads in 2026. Samsung presented a futuristic midsize electric sedan with a digital assistant and color-changing technology. But the future of electricity-powered mobility ventured into unexpected paths, from flying cars to snowcats/motorbikes, speedboats, and even roller skates. Check the ones we liked the most.
Accessible and inclusive products
Human-based technology is for all at CES 2023. Companies and innovators launched products for people with disabilities or help to improve mental health and physical well-being. L’Oréal launched a smart makeup applicator developed for individuals with motor disabilities and limited hand or arm movement. Sony presented a new adaptable PlayStation controller that allows gamers with limited motor control. Find out more.
Haptic metaverses
Metaverse and Web3 took centre stage with a dedicated section in the convention centre’s Central Hall. Haptic – anything related to the sense of touch – was the ultimate keyword at CES 2023. For example, US-based gaming company OWO displayed a wearable suit, a sort of biceps-to-torso second skin for gamers interacting with the virtual environment.
Rekindling with Nature
Sustainability is not only about performing well and contributing to reducing ominous figures but also about triggering awareness and rekindling with Nature. Unistellar launched EVscope, a smart urban telescope allowing urban dwellers to see and dream about the stars above them beyond the pollution blanket. AI-powered birdbox Bird Buddy films any feathered friend that stops by for a snack and identifies its species.
Health & pee sensors
At CES 2023, health tech was king. Watches, collars, and pillows can now track your earth beats and even make graphic displays on your dog’s snoring performances. Besides tacky gadgets and gizmos, we were quite impressed by the Withings U-Scan pee sensor. The device sits at the front of your toilet. When you sit and pee, it collects the urine, analyzes it, and then sends the results to your phone.
Matter matters
From tv projectors to stand mixers, smart home tech is king at CES, and this year was no different. But the most supported and discussed innovation was Matter, the newly launched, open-source smart home standard that brings compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings within a single wireless protocol. Because if it works with Matter, it works with everything, and companies would update entire product lines to ensure total interoperability.
