Fresh pasta in the making with Chef Rubio
Via Cesare Correnti 7 – MM3 Duomo.
Origami italiani is a food design program of fresh pasta making workshops hosted by renown Italian chef Rubio, designer Filippo Protasoni and Circus communication agency together with Pasta d’Autore lab-restaurant. Each session invites visitors to dust their fingers with flours but also to reflect on the pasta industrial design process, and that includes also packaging and communication.

Who says that submarines have to be yellow and travel underwater? At Milan Design Week they are bright blue and float at Giugiaro-renovated galleries under the Central Station! At the new Ventura Centrale a floating kitchen by Andrea Carletti will re-interpret street food with up-cycled cargo lifeboats. The gourmet installation is supported by Street Food Mobile which has been promoting design food truck for over a decade.

The Future Sausage exhibition at design Satellite explores alternatives for future meat consumption in collaboration with a molecular chef and a master butcher. Students of ÉCAL University focus on sausages as “one of mankind’s first-ever designed food items, conceived to make the most of animal protein in times of scarcity”.
Fast food furniture by Studio Job

Belgian design duo Studio Job presents a quirky furniture collection inspired by fast-food culture for Seletti. The hotdog armchair, comes in the shape of an open hot dog bun with an comfy upholstered sausage. The designs are part of the BLOW collection that features also a banana lamp and a set of porcelain plates and mirrors.

At Milan Design Market in the new Isola Design District you can lick design lollies and bite Rubik cubes. Glacé is not only a brand of ice-cream but a concept which raises the world of ice cream to art and design. Ilaria Forlani, the creative mind of the brand, is showing her original creations such as Mini Stecchi and Ice Stone.

Jasper Udink Ten Cate founder of Creative Chef uses Milan Design Week as a canvas to create a restaurant setting as a performance art piece. His food-design interiors project and plant-based menu are filmed from above. Visitors will make connections and experience the fact that they are part of an performance. Agriculture is a balance at Eataly

dotdotdot and Opendot present |Gea*|, a Marble Machine narrating the virtuous process of food cultivation and transformation from land to end consumer. At Eataly, the founding mechanism of the installation is triggered by visitors through a seed that starts the whole process: a series of pathways and gears involving sky, earth and landscape talk about the extraordinary opportunity to rediscover a lifestyle in perfect balance with the planet.
