Design—Archipanic’s Editor-in-Chief Enrico Zilli has selected eight furniture collections debuting at 3 Days of Design, the Danish capital’s design festival taking over the city to celebrate Denmark’s creativity and beyond. Our selection includes designs by leading furniture companies such as Muuto, Frama, or Carl Hansen & Søn, as well as acclaimed and independent designers such as Faye Toogood, Form Us With Love, and Erwan Bouroullec.

Center Center series by Form Us With Love x String Furniture

“Static storage is a concept of the past,” Jonas Pettersson and John Löfgren of Stockholm-based design studio Form Us With Love said. The Swedish studio developed the Center Center furniture collection, rethinking storage design for String Furniture. Powder-coated metal perforated sheet boxes become the base of a modular collection, offering plenty of possibilities for organising an office or home.

Crafting Plastics collection by Kasper Kyster

Kasper Kyster, co-founder of the Ukurant design platform, presents the Crafting Plastic collection, exploring unconventional furniture with an organic feel and narrative. The series comprises a large shelf, a coat rack, and two lamps made by layering two-millimetre-thick PETG plastic sheets. “I try to make it as round as possible so it gets stronger, and the joints are also very strong—I heat up the plastic even more where it connects so that the surface kind of melts and is welded together,” the designer explained.

ARBA lounge chair by Erwan Bouroullec x raawi

Erwan Bouroullec and Raawii joined forces for the Happy Sobriety installation. Together, they premiered the ARBA lounge chair, which “has nothing to hide,” explains the French designer. Indeed, it is a simple yet refined composition of two moulded plywood elements, a cross-like structure of bent metal profiles, and a die-cast aluminium base. The formal purity of an experimental prototype meets industrial design. The chair comes in a flat box and can be mounted in a few simple steps.

Danish brand Frama teamed up with British creative Faye Toogood to launch Collage, an exhibition and collection at the Danish company’s café. The series and setting feature large sculptural wooden furniture in asymmetric geometric shapes, blending art, poetry, and furniture design. Visitors were invited to dine in a space of voids, volumes, and planes in contact with layered tables, surfaces, and screens. Collage “is not a big product launch but more like two houses coming together to create a new energy.”

The Furniture We Need by Anker Bak

Danish furniture designer and cabinetmaker Anker Bak developed The Furniture We Need collection while living with his grandparents. He wanted to create dignified and practical solutions for his elderly people. It includes assistive furniture and walking aids designed for ageing users, including walking sticks, pill boxes, a wheeled walking frame, and even a lightweight coffin inspired by the architecture of churches.

Bubi lamp by Henning Koppel  x Carl Hansen & Søn

Danish furniture company Carl Hansen & Søn presents Bubi, a sweet lamp originally designed in 1972 by the late Henning Koppel, a maestro of the famed Danish Modern avant-garde. Inspired by his nephew’s cap, Bubi has a drop-like, organic design featuring an acrylic opaline shade and chromed brass details. The lighting comes as a pendant and table lamp.

Soft Solids lightings by Daydreaming Objects

Lighting designer Ruta Palionyte and architect Ieva Baranauskaite of Copenhagen-based duo Daydreaming Objects present Soft Solids, a lighting design collection exploring the intentional use and repurposing of natural materials. The series reflects on the potential for regeneration within design practice. The incorporation of wax in crafting light objects introduces distinctive characteristics: its capacity to transform from a shapeless mass into a tangible form and revert to a flexible or even fluid state.

Settle seats by Andressen & Voll x Muuto

Muuto has conceived a tucked-away courtyard to showcase Settle, a new outdoor lounge seating collection by the Norwegian designer duo Anderssen & Voll. The new outdoor collection combines soft, familiar form and materiality with wooden armrests—a space to rest the arm or drink. Within the newly redesigned showroom, the Danish company unfolded its versatile collection of furniture, lighting, and accessories for the home, office, and beyond.
