TDM10 – Giro Giro Tondo: design for children
Triennale di Milano – Via Alemagna 6, M1-M2 Cadorna. Opening event: 4 April 8 pm.
Giro Giro Tondo is the Italian equivalent for Ring a Ring o’ Rose nursery rhyme. Kids-friendly design goes on show at the 10th edition of Triennale Design Museum (TDM10) curated by Silvana Annicchiarico. The exhibition explores how Italian designers and design brands tuned with the playful world of children. From school furniture developed according to Maria Montessori to Nendo rocking horses for Kartell (2016). On show also graphic design and comics for kids and playful grown-ups. Cassina 9.0 – This will be the place
Fondazione Feltrinelli – Viale Pasubio 5. MM2 Moscova. 5-8 April 10am-11pm, 4 & 9 April 10am-6pm.
Cassina celebrates its 90th anniversary at the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli with an exhibition linking the company’s past and present with a vision towards the future. Curated by Patricia Urquiola, the Cassina 9.0 installation references progress and evolution, like computer language, as a necessary resource to reinterpret the company’s historical legacy. This year the company celebrates also the 60th anniversary of the iconic Superleggera 699 designed Gio Ponti. Cassina won’t join Salone del Mobile in Rho Fiera, the new collections will be on show at the showroom in Via Durini 16.
MULTIPLEX – Tom Dixon at Galleria Manzoni

Against the backdrop of 50’s Italian glamour cinema in the historic Galleria in via Manzoni, Tom Dixon presents the new chapter of his MULTIPLEX department store showcasing fresh ideas, classic design and innovation. Titled Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, the exhibition will bring together the British designer’s iconic design sprung from 20 years of Italian production and now reinterpreted in new variations. On show but also “our latest adventures in futuristic optics like the new chandelier collection” and the brand-new modular furniture developed for IKEA. Multiplex 2017 features also the HABERDASHERY boutique, a design perfumery, the RUBBER shop in collaboration with Pirelli and IKEA design cineforum.
IKEA festival: “Let’s make room for life”
Via Ventura 14. MM2 Lambrate. 4-8 April 10am-8pm – 9 April 10am-6pm.
The home environment of the future will go on show at the IKEA festival that celebrates the ability to express ourselves and the uniqueness of our daily routines. The Swedish company will presents the new collections and collaborations but also workshops, installations, talks, gigs and live prototyping. The design cineforum at Multiplex will offer the chance to present the company’s brand new open-source design as well.
Inspired in Barcelona: In & Out
Palazzo Isimbardi – Corso Monforte 35. MM1 San Babila & Palestro. 4-9 Aprile 10am-7pm.
The Catalan capital houses some of the finest examples of contemporary architecture. The same Mediterranean creativity can be found even inside homes thanks to the work of leading designers and brands such as Patricia Urquiola, Jamie Hayon, Eugeni Quitllet but also Nani Marquina, Kettal and RCR Architectes who recently won the Pritzker Prize. The exhibition explores the status of the art of Barcelona leading creatives for both indoor and outdoor design.

Moooi: A Life Extraordinary
Via Savona 56, MM2 Sant’Agostino, Porta Genova. 4-8 April 10am-21pm, 9 April 10am-5pm.
A 1700 sqm space in the core of Zona Tortona district will be transformed into a comfortable, warm and welcoming environment of creative luxury. Under the motto A Life Extraordinary, Moooi will present the new collections by Marcel Wanders, Luca Nichetto, Maarten Baas, Arihiro Miyake, Bertjan Pot, Edward van Vliet and more. Get up close with the extraordinary photography by Levon Biss who portrayed the intriguing microscopic anatomy of insects. On show also the new collection of wollen carpet and the eyeglasses collection by Gentle Monster.
The Carousel by Lee Broom
Via Ferrante Aporti 15, MM2-3 Centrale. 4-8 April 10am-8pm – 9 April 10am-6pm.
At the debuting Ventura Centrale district located in the warehouses of Milan Central Station, Lee Broom’s TIME MACHINE exhibition celebrates the designer’S 10-year anniversary with a carousel presenting key products from his career, now re-imagined in a completely white colour palette. “The derelict vault, illuminated solely by the light of the carousel, will be left untouched and in stark contrast to the purity and playful serenity of the installation” explains Lee Broom. On this occasion, the designer will also present the marble and brass Time Machine bespoke grandfather clock.

Doppia Firma @ GAM
Galleria di Arte Moderna – via Palestro 14. MM1 San Babila & Palestro. 4 April 9am–5.30pm, 5 -9 April 9.am-7pm.
Doppia Firma – Double Signature – is an exclusive format that features the work of international designers with local craftsmen. The grand halls of GAM become the magnificent setting for bespoke collaborations. Nika Zupanc teamed with silversmith De Vecchi Milano 1935. Uros Mihic joined forces with Caterina Crepax while Raw Edges worked with wood master Carlo Apollo. Lex Pott, Cristina Celestino and Sebastian Herkner exhibit their new designs teaming respectively with HABITO, Antique Mirror and Lucio Doro at Alchymia. Wander through the magnificient halls to discover more bespoke design sets. Project by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, Living Corriere della Sera and the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship.

Gilda Bojardi, editor of leading international architecture and design magazine INTERNI, invited prominent designers and architects to colonize the historic courtyards of the Università degli Studi di Milano, at the Orto Botanico di Brera and other venues. Micro-architectures, macro-objects and experimental installations by internationally acclaimed professionals will focus on the MATERIAL IMMATERIAL theme. This year line-up includes Ron Arad, Alessandro and Francesco Mendini, Toshiyuki Kita, Italo Rota, BIG and many more.
