Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

This year’s Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will feature a lot of wood and visitors will be able to listen to lectures by internationally acclaimed designers and architects. With a strong contact-design imprint, the fair gathers some of the top Scandinavian brands including Muuto, Artek, Norther Copenhagen and Menu as well as independent design editors such as Northern, Nurse and Warm Nordic.

On Saturday 9, the fair tunes opens to all design lovers who would like to see the most recent trends within lighting and furniture.


Once upon a time… A Chinese village

AS Guest of Honour of Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, Shanghai and London-based studio Neri & Hu designs a pavilion pressing social issues unique to China. “Villages and village culture are disappearing, an alarming trend that greatly impacts the traditional notion of community, family and cultural roots.” Explain Lyndon Neri and Rossanna Hu. “As many of our product designs are centered around and informed by notions of nostalgia, dwelling, home, family and the individual’s relationship within a collective, we wanted to create an exhibition that represents and captures the essence of the traditional Chinese village.” 


Anderssen & Voll’s Design Bar blends Nordic and Japanese aesthetics

At the fair, enjoy a gourmet meal at the Design Bar, which is a mix between an exhibition and a top-class restaurant. Taking inspiration from Scandinavian atriums and Japanese aesthetics, the Norwegian design studio Anderssen & Voll is designing a structure in pine that encircles an intimate courtyard. The menu has been created by chef Frida Ronge.


The Greenhouse platform celebrates Nordic and internationals talents

37 designers and design groups as well as 29 design schools from 20 countries join the Greenhouse, the fair’s jury-assessed area for upcoming talents. Design duo Thau & Kallio is designing the Greenhouse bar and café and an exhibition under the direction of the Materials Library.

How can floor materials be used in new and unexpected ways? At the fair, Stockholm-based Note Design studio welcomes visitors to discover Snowtopped a smooth and unexpected cozy installation created in collaboration with floor and wall coverings company Tarkett. The Lookout collection combines wood, vinyl, linoleum with a complex color palette ranging from dark grey to brick red and moss green, with fresh accents of coral apricot and white stained oak.

Färg & Blanche present a personal exhibition in the 1889 apartment of Emma Blanche’s great-great-grandfather. The Swedish-French design duo will display new objects, installations and furniture inspired by the family’s history and the crisp bread factory they once owned.


Young Swedish Design: rising talents on show at ArkDes

Discover the most intriguing new designs from Sweden’s young creatives on show at ArkDes, Swedish architecture and design museum. Ung Svensk Form/Young Swedish Design 2019 is a jury-assessed award promoting unique pieces from across a broad range of disciplines, from architecture and fashion to product design and crafts. Maja Michaelsdotter Eriksson’s textile creations look like they are made from meet and blood, while Jan Klingler shines a new light on bacteria.

The SIE WOHNEN HIERexhibition has been curated by Magniberg, an internationally acclaimed design group that is participating in Stockholm Design Week for the first time. The exhibition features select pieces from Nordic auction house Bukowskis alongside Magniberg’s textiles and colorful cubist furniture.
