Canadian brand Molo debuts with a collection of seating, furniture and lightings by Forsythe + MacAllen. “We are inspired by the idea that smaller tactile objects and elements have a real potency in the physical experience of a space”. say the designers who work back and forth between the intimate scale of furniture and small utilitarian objects, to the larger scale of buildings and landscapes. Working at a furniture scale heightens the sense of human scale and physical experience in architecture.
Softseating is a series of seating elements in various materials and natural colours, all utilizing a honeycomb structure to fan open into stools, benches, and loungers. Each element of softseating has magnetic end panels, allowing an element to connect to itself, forming a cylindrical stool or low table, or to connect to other elements of the same size in series, creating long winding benches and endless possibilities for seating topographies. The beauty of these pieces is that they are sculptural abstract forms, each made from a single material, that can be used creatively and interchangeably as seating or low tables.
The Cloud light collection offers refined, flexible lighting for interior living. The white textile shade of cloud -comprised of hundreds of cellular honeycomb-like forms- is lit internally by energy-efficient LED and radiates a gentle, all around, ambient quality of light. Beneath the textile shade, the visually delicate, demountable wooden bases of cloud floor + table softlight make clever use of a flexible and hidden connection to elegantly join each of it’s three legs together.
Softwall+Softblock modular system with LED lighting – The new system of flexible LED lighting integrates with Molo Softwall+Softblock modular system in order to transform these elements into completely flexible, freestanding, glowing partitions. This luminous version emphasizes the visual delicacy of the translucent white textile fibre and makes magical the expansion, contraction and fluid movement of these freestanding soft structures. The tactile experiential qualities of Softwall+Softblock are suited to shaping more intimate ephemeral areas within larger open spaces. The element of a softly glowing light brings another expression and atmosphere to dim. Spaces created to immerse in the dusky shadows of twilight and night.
