Milan 2018Mayice Studio presented FILAMENTO  a  sculptural  lamp  made  of  an undulating  glass  design more  than  one  meter  long which connects two light sources pointing each other.  When  illuminated,  its  form  and  matter  disappear; a poetic yarn of light created by the reflections on the glass surfaces creates a laser-like effect.

Filamento is the result of a study of how light travels through concave and convex forms of glass, creating a visible and linear form of energy that responds to an optical effect.” Explain at Mayice Studio. The design which can  be  used  outdoor  and  indoor makes visible the way  light  travels through geometric shapes of glass. “We spent a lot of time researching  with different light rays, intensities and glass forms to create the effect of the filament of light”.

Entirely crafted in Spain, Filamento makes use of a special bulb with LED´s technology to enhance the beauty of glass forms. Everything is dimmable and the users can control the intensity of light from a smartphone.

The light which was debuted at Spazio Rossana Orlando in Milan during Milan Design Week was designed as a modular system. Each of the 1.26-metre-long lights can be attached to one another. The studio attached four Filamento pieces together to form a five-metre-long installation in the gallery’s basement.
